31 Young Carers had fun this week !

Burgess Hill Youth provided a fun afternoon for 31 Young Carers on Tuesday this week.  They enjoyed lots of activities including the much anticipated slime making!  A big thanks to Diane for volunteering with this and leaving with very pink hands   pinkhand2.

There was also a visit from Trixie’s minibeasts which included snakes  and a bearded dragon.  We also enjoyed arts and crafts, pool, table tennis and air hockey.   The Mustard Seed cafe provided their lovely lunch too.  A big thank you to all volunteers for supporting the event.  This was supported by Crossroads Care South Central and supported by the Town Council.  Click on the images to see a bigger version.

DJ Session Earlier this Month

As part of Burgess Hills annual summer festival, Burgess Hill Youth organised a DJing session for all in the town and surrounding area.

All that came thoroughly enjoyed themselves learning to DJ and of course there was some singing!

Big thanks to Tons of Sound who ran than DJing session and Borde Hill Gardens for providing chocolate for them all.

Here are some pictures from the night

Chicory Tip Fundraiser- Thanks!

The Chicory Tip Fundraising Event was Burgess Hill Youth’s biggest fundraising event of the year and took place on Saturday 3 February at Martlets Hall, Burgess Hill.  The event was supported by Burgess Hill District Lions Club and sponsored by Steve Willis Training

Burgess Hill Youth raised the following:

·         £325 in the raffle

·         £175 on the auction of the Porsche car for the day

·         plus £1040 entrance fees.

This amounts to an amazing total of £1540.  All contributions made will positively impact our fund raising efforts and help to provide additional income for the up keep of our community facility and support the youth work we deliver throughout the year.  In the past these funds have been used to replace computer equipment, provide play equipment, a contribution to activities programmes for members of the club and many other projects.

A big THANK YOU! to Burgess Hill District Lions, particularly Tony Parris, for organising this event and to our patron Steve Willis for his ongoing support of the club.

They may be someone who has direct caring responsibilities or they may be someone whose life is affected as a result of living with someone who has these conditions.

Young Carers Christmas 2017 Tea Party

Burgess Hill Youth Young Carers enjoyed a lovely Christmas themed tea party at Abbeyfield Nursing Home on Friday 22 December.  The event was an enjoyable experience for all involved and follows recent television themed programmes promoting intergenerational activities.  The Young Carers were greeted at the home and enjoyed Frozen themed craft activities with the residents popping in. Then they were welcomed into the large dining area where they were introduced to Frozen characters, who were staff dressed up for the occasion.  A trip out to Santa’s Grotto in the beautiful snow filled garden (courtesy of the homes premises team!) to visit the Elves to receive beautiful homemade gifts for each child was a pure pleasure to see.  They all came back in for a homemade tea party with the residents of the home present. The afternoon was completed with some Christmas themed reading including “Twas the Night Before Christmas”.  This was a magical afternoon for the Young Carers of Burgess Hill and big thanks to Abbeyfield Residential Home, particularly Heather Rogers, for the hard work gone into making this a most memorable experience for us all.  Burgess Hill Youth holds a programme of activities supported by Burgess Hill Town Council.
