Easter 2017 outings for Young Carers!

Monday 10th and Tuesday 11th April 2017

Easter outings are planned for the Young Carers of Burgess Hill.

Destinations: Fishers Farm and a Young Drive experience.

These events are for young carers aged 6+ years living in the Burgess Hill area.

Young carers are children and young people who help look after a member of the family who is sick, disabled or has mental health problems, or is misusing drugs or alcohol.  They may be someone who has direct caring responsibilities or they may be someone whose life is affected as a result of living with someone who has these conditions.  With so many adult responsibilities, young carers often miss out on opportunities that other children have to play and learn. The outings will provide an opportunity for the young carers to have fun.

Burgess Hill young carer, Niamh said: “The young carers events are great because we can go and meet new people who have gone through a similar experience to yourself.  Whenever I go there’s always a friendly face. There are always volunteers who give up their time to help us and I’m really grateful to them. They are what make it possible! I go on a day out and there is always something for me, and everyone else, to do. Whether it’s arts and crafts, tennis, cake making or pond dipping. We will all have a GREAT time!”

A range of free young carers Fun Days and outings are organised throughout the year by Burgess Hill Youth and Burgess Hill Town Council.  The Young Carers Partnership is planning an ongoing programme of activities for young carers.  For information about future activities and to book your place contact …
