Childline has launched an app that is the first to provide counselling to young people in need of help, directly through their mobile devices.
The app has been named ‘For Me‘ to ensure that it can be discreetly installed.
This means that if someone happens to see the young person’s phone, they can’t tell it’s a Childline service.
Created by young people, for young people.
‘For Me‘ was created by four teenagers who realised there was an urgent need for young people to have easy access to confidential advice and support.
When Childline first launched over 30 years ago, all contact was over the phone, with many calls being made from telephone boxes.
How children and young people contact Childline now is dramatically different:
71% of counselling sessions are delivered online via email and 1-2-1 chat.
Last year, 1.8 million sessions on the Childline website were conducted via mobile devices.
The app is free to download from the Childline website.
New volunteer Tim Worsfold met with Debbie Mann and Thomas Costick (aka WebBhyouth) at the BHYouth HQ to discuss the Club’s website and Facebook page.
Tim has kindly stepped forward to help with the website and blog, thereby doubling the existing number devoted to that task 🙂
A good meeting was had, and Tim went away straining at the leash to leave no stone unturned. We all agreed that many hands make light work, while taking care to avoid the Too Many Cooks conundrum.
By popular demand, a form has been added for Hall Bookings.
This is an update to the bookings calendar page, and it now sits at the top level of the menu bar.
The online form allows booking details to be submitted by email.
While this is being tested, people are advised to also phone their booking through in the usual way. More details on the Hall Bookings page.
The website now has a “Contact us” form under the “About” menu, which will send an email to Burgess Hill Youth.
This is intended for general contact enquiries. It is not for booking the Hall, which should still be done in the usual way, by phone… but wait… what’s this?…
(To be continued) 🙂
The website has new menu, “Meetings“. Click it to view a page which includes a link to our new repository for meeting agendas and minutes.

The website Home page has been updated to include some information about Burgess Hill Youth and a link to "The Umbrella" page.

This blog is part of the website for Burgess Hill Youth, currently in development.
Many of the blog posts are just examples, and do not relate to real happenings in the world of BH Youth.
