Young Carers Update

Burgess Hill Youth held its Young Carers Summer Holidays Activity programme over the last week.  This included a trip to Chessington World of Adventures on 25 July, Go Karting on 27 July, Horse riding on 30 July and Abbey Field Care Home for a seaside event on 31 July.  All events were very successful and were attended by a total of 53 young carers aged 6-16 years.

Burgess Hill Youth are very grateful to the volunteer drivers from Burgess Hill Girls School that drove us to the 3 of the events and for the loan of the bus for Chessington World of Adventures.

For details on future young carers events please contact Jennifer at the Town Council by email to jeenifer@burgesshill.gov.uk

31 Young Carers had fun this week !

Burgess Hill Youth provided a fun afternoon for 31 Young Carers on Tuesday this week.  They enjoyed lots of activities including the much anticipated slime making!  A big thanks to Diane for volunteering with this and leaving with very pink hands   pinkhand2.

There was also a visit from Trixie’s minibeasts which included snakes  and a bearded dragon.  We also enjoyed arts and crafts, pool, table tennis and air hockey.   The Mustard Seed cafe provided their lovely lunch too.  A big thank you to all volunteers for supporting the event.  This was supported by Crossroads Care South Central and supported by the Town Council.  Click on the images to see a bigger version.

They may be someone who has direct caring responsibilities or they may be someone whose life is affected as a result of living with someone who has these conditions.

DJ Session Earlier this Month

As part of Burgess Hills annual summer festival, Burgess Hill Youth organised a DJing session for all in the town and surrounding area.

All that came thoroughly enjoyed themselves learning to DJ and of course there was some singing!

Big thanks to Tons of Sound who ran than DJing session and Borde Hill Gardens for providing chocolate for them all.

Disrespect NoBody Campaign

PLEASE SEE LINKS BELOW

The third phase of the Home Office Disrespect Nobody campaign will run from today, 29 March, to the beginning of May 2018.

The aim of the campaign is to prevent young people, both boys and girls aged 12 to 18 years old, from becoming perpetrators and victims of abusive relationships.

For 2018, the focus of the campaign will be consent, sexting and personal boundaries, which are the issues many young people need more education and information on. All campaign advertising including radio, video-on-demand and social media, directs young people to the website http://www.disrespectnobody.co.uk where they can find further information and the details of organisations which can provide help and support.

We have produced a range of partner support materials to help you use the resources with the young people that you work with and promote it within your local area. These include posters, social media assets and materials developed specifically for LGBT young people.

Campaign assets are available to download here on gov.uk and the Home Office has tweeted about the campaign. Please help support the campaign on social media by retweeting our post.

We have also produced a DVD containing the campaign adverts, you can order up to 10 copies of the DVD by emailing VAWGCampaigns@homeoffice.gsi.gov.uk

Thank you for your support.   PLEASE VISIT BELOW FOR MORE INFO

Football Tournament – February Half Term

On Tuesday 13th February Burgess Hill Youth Members from both the Junior and Senior club played in a football tournament in Worthing. They played other teams from all over the county. The event was organised and run by Albion and the Community. All the members had a very enjoyable day, even though the weather wasn’t great.

They also had the opportunity to have a picture with Brighton & Hove Albion player Pascal Gross.

Every Monday and Wednesday (term time only) a football coach from Albion and the Community comes to Burgess Hill Youth and coach’s all interested members.
